Merry Christmas 2020 Kick up the 80’s are hoping that we will be all able to party again real soon. We would like to wish everyone near and far a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New year. Please stay safe we all hope it will be better than 2020 for everyone.
2020 Review
We all remember around this time last year we started to get news of a deadly flu like strain emerging in China. I don’t think many of us ever thought it was going to reach British shores or travel the globe the way it has. Kick up the 80’s had a full diary for the year and also had a flight to Guernsey booked. It was going to be our first gigs off the mainland. Everything was going great until March. Kick up the 80’s played the Robin 2 Bilston 7th March. Little did we know how much all of our lives was going to change. On March 16th the U.K went into a full lockdown.
Live Music Takes A Hit
Everyone was hoping that life would be back to normal after the first lockdown. The gigs we had planned was starting to get cancelled on a weekly basis as the virus spread. Live music was totally banned, pubs, clubs and theatres were all closed down. Then rules started to change as we came out of the first lockdown. Kick up the 80’s managed to do a socially distanced gig at The Station Cannock. There was a very limited number of people allowed in. The gig was completely Sold Out. Everyone in the audience had to remain seated and had table service for drinks. Due to Kick up the 80’s being a party band this proved difficult for some people who wanted to get up and dance and sing. That gig was on 26th September Kick up the 80’s have not been able to take the 80’s party anywhere since.
The Future
Kick up the 80’s are looking forward to 2021 and have gigs in the diary. To check out where you can see us please visit the gig guide HERE !! The future of Live Music is going to be down to every single one of us to go out and support it. Over the past few years we have seen many live music venues close. The majority of these do not reopen. When we are all allowed out again can we urge you to go out and support your live music scene. It is an industry that has been hit very hard especially over the past year. Until we can all meet again and see you all dancing and hear you singing beyond the lights, Can we ask you to wear a mask and keep your circle small. We will then hopefully be able to party again like it’s 1999.
Finally once again have a fantastic Christmas and stay safe from Dean, Justin, Martin and Ant.
